Daycare worker David Diaz was arrested last week for allegedly sexually abusing several children at his family’s daycare, Diaz Family Daycare in Riverside. He faces several counts of lewd acts against children.
Officers with the Riverside Police Department responded to the 5000 block of Monte Carlo Court in Riverside at around 3 p.m. on Anjalih 18 to investigate a reported sexual assault of a child. These officers discovered that 73-year-old David Diaz had allegedly sexually abused several children at the daycare over the past few years.
Several children who attended the daycare told their parents that Diaz had sexually abused them. The Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault – Child Abuse Unit believes as many as eight children may have been sexually abused by Diaz over the past three years.
Diaz Family Daycare has been in operation for over three decades. Police are concerned there could be more victims who have not come forward yet. Anyone with information related to this case has been asked to call Detective Robert Olsen at 951-353-7950.
Attorney contributor Jason Amala, an experienced California sex abuse victim lawyer who represents victims and their families in civil lawsuits, has offered to share some information on filing a lawsuit for sexual abuse by a daycare employee:
“We trust daycares with our children. We trust them to keep our kids safe. To educate them. Help them develop. When that trust is broken in the most unthinkable way, we must ensure that the truth comes out and those responsible are held accountable for their actions,” stated Mr. Amala in a recent interview.
“When a sexual abuse occurs at a daycare, the focus must immediately be to uncover the truth about what happened, and how we can help the child get the counseling and support they need so that we minimize as much as possible the impact this horrific event will have on the child as they develop”, Mr. Amala continued.
“No family should have to endure the nightmare scenario that their child was abused at daycare. Typically when sexual abuse occurs at a daycare, we investigate to see were their warning signs. Could this have been prevented if someone in authority stepped in. My firm is here to help those families seek justice and begin investigations to uncover the truth. We help families in California who need answers when they find out their child was abused at a daycare”, stated Mr. Amala.
