A 35-year-old female teacher from Sawgrass Adventist School located at 11701 NW 4th St, Plantation, FL 33325, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with a 14-year-old boy. The Broward County Sheriff's Office confirmed the charges on Friday, November 22, 2024, according to CBS News Miami.
Candace Allison Brown, a resident of Weston, faces serious allegations, including two counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a minor under 16, as well as charges for lewd and lascivious conduct and transmission of harmful material to a minor via electronic device. She voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the Broward County Main Jail on Friday and is currently being held on a $40,000 bond.
According to law enforcement, Brown engaged in sexual acts with the victim in Deerfield Beach during June of this year. The arrest report reveals that these incidents included sexual contact and the transmission of a video depicting Brown performing a sexual act on herself, as well as kissing the victim.
The private institution, which serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade, has expressed deep concern regarding the allegations. Frank Runnels, vice president of education for the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, stated, "We just received a report of inappropriate and illegal conduct by one of our teachers with regard to a student, and we are taking it very seriously."
