Compensation For Injured Semi-Truck Accident Victims

Attorney contributor Jeff Gibson is an experienced commercial trucking lawyer in Indiana. Jeff recently discussed the legal options available for victims injured in semi-truck collisions.

"Accidents involving semi-trucks happen quite often, and unfortunately, the impact can be severe. This is due to the large size of the trucks and the failure of some drivers to abide by speed limits in order to meet deadlines. When a semi-truck gets into an accident, it is important to determine what caused the crash. Many factors can lead to a commercial truck collision. These can include driver neglect, such as impaired driving, distracted drivers, or even driver fatigue."

"However, many times the neglect may fall on a third party, such as the trucking company or truck manufacturer. If the trucking company hired a driver with a history of traffic violations, they could be held liable. Additionally, if the truck had a manufacturing defect or recall, the manufacturer could be liable."

"Victims injured due to an accident involving a semi-truck or other commercial truck should speak with an experienced commercial trucking lawyer to identify all parties responsible. Many times injured victims may be entitled to financial compensation after a semi-truck accident."
