A shocking development has emerged involving the owner of a security company hired to protect multiple elementary schools in Northwest ISD, located across Northwest Texas. Kirk Stanley Grable, 54, was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child and engaging in prohibited sexual contact, according to Fox 4.
Grable was booked into the Parker County jail on Tuesday and released the following day after posting bond. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim, who met with law enforcement in May, detailed disturbing incidents where Grable allegedly forced him to perform sexual acts.
The allegations date back to 2021, with the victim stating that the assaults began occurring bi-weekly and escalated to daily occurrences before he turned 17.
Law enforcement recorded a phone conversation between Grable and the victim, during which Grable reportedly made statements that supported the victim's claims.
Grable is identified as the owner of Lone Star Protection & Security LLC, a firm based in Weatherford that has provided security for various facilities, including schools.
Northwest ISD hired Lone Star Protection in January to meet new state requirements for armed security on school campuses. The firm was responsible for providing security at Prairie View, Sendera Ranch, Haslet, Peterson, and Hughes elementary schools. However, the district confirmed that there is no record of Grable ever visiting the schools or having any direct interaction with students.
In a statement, Northwest ISD emphasized that the safety of students remains a top priority and that any allegations involving child safety will be taken seriously. The district is currently reviewing its contract with Grable’s company, while also maintaining agreements with four other security providers.
In the wake of serious allegations against a school security firm owner, we spoke with Texas attorney Anjali Nigam to discuss the legal rights available to victims of sexual abuse involving resource officers and school security officials. Nigam offers her perspective on how individuals can seek accountability and highlights the importance of effective policies in schools to prevent such incidents.
Editor Darla Medina: Thank you for joining us. Can you explain the legal rights available to those who have been groomed and sexually abused by a resource officer or other school security official?
Attorney Anjali Nigam: Absolutely, Darla. Victims of sexual abuse have the right to seek justice through both criminal and civil avenues. They can report the abuse to law enforcement, which may lead to criminal charges against the perpetrator. Additionally, victims can file civil lawsuits against the offender and any parties that may have failed to protect them, such as the school district or security firm.
Medina: What steps should a victim take if they want to hold negligent parties accountable?
Nigam: The first step is to gather evidence, including any documentation of the abuse and communications with the alleged perpetrator. Consulting with an experienced attorney is vital, as they can help navigate the legal process and assess the viability of a claim. It’s also important for victims to understand the statute of limitations in their state, as this can affect their ability to file a lawsuit.
Medina: How can schools and security firms improve their policies to prevent such incidents?
Nigam: Training and background checks are critical. Schools must ensure that all personnel, including security officers, undergo thorough vetting. Moreover, implementing clear reporting procedures and providing education on recognizing grooming behaviors can significantly reduce the risk of abuse in educational environments.
Medina: Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this important topic.
