Legal Options For Victims of Sexual Abuse by Teachers

Attorney Anjali Nigam has helped numerous victims of sexual abuse find justice through civil lawsuits. We've asked Anjali to share some knowledge on the legal options available to victims of sexual abuse by teachers and other school employees:

Sexual predators are often found working in positions of trust with children, including as teachers and other school employees. Our team of sex abuse victims attorneys regularly sees cases of teachers sexually abusing their students. These predators must be held accountable for their crimes in criminal courts. Additionally, negligent schools that fail to protect their students from sexual abuse should also be held liable in civil cases.

Schools have a legal duty to protect their students from sexual predators. When school negligence opens the door for a student to be sexually abused by an employee, the victim and their family may have grounds for a lawsuit against the school district.

For example, a school district could be considered negligent if it failed to respond to previous complaints of inappropriate behavior by the accused employee.

If you or your child is a survivor of sexual abuse by a school employee, you can learn more about your family's legal rights by contacting one of our experienced sex abuse victims lawyers for a free consultation.
