Jeffrey Joseph Leoni, 54, of Sinking Spring, faces charges including indecent assault and sexual abuse of children following an investigation by the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
The case began in March 2025 when a 37-year-old woman sought counseling from Leoni, a Wyomissing-based psychologist who advertised PTSD treatment services. According to the Berks Weekly, Leoni initiated inappropriate communication by texting her about "traumatic massages," which he claimed were part of her therapy. He offered to visit her home at no cost and suggested she could undress to her comfort level.
In May 2025, Leoni visited the victim’s home and performed a massage. During the session, he allegedly touched her inappropriately. The victim also reported that Leoni positioned his phone as if recording or photographing her throughout their interactions.
In June 2025, detectives executed a search warrant and seized Leoni’s cellphone. A forensic examination revealed disturbing evidence, including photographs of the victim and other women in various stages of undress. Investigators also discovered that Leoni used artificial intelligence applications to create manipulated nude images, including those of a 12-year-old girl. These AI-generated images were linked to photos taken around the same time.
On July 29, 2025, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives charged Leoni with several offenses, including Sexual Abuse of Children, Child Pornography, Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, and Indecent Assault. Arrest warrants were issued by Magisterial District Judges Thomas Gauby and Eric Taylor.
The following day, Leoni surrendered to authorities with his attorney. He was processed at the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center and now awaits arraignment.
Authorities stress that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Victims of abuse by trusted professionals, such as psychologists, often face complex emotional and legal challenges. To better understand the options available for those impacted by psychologist sexual assault, we sat down with Guy D’Andrea, a seasoned Pennsylvania attorney specializing in sexual abuse cases. In this discussion, D’Andrea outlines the legal routes victims can take to seek accountability and support while addressing common concerns that arise during these cases.
Editor Darla Medina: What legal avenues are available for someone who has experienced sexual assault by a psychologist during therapy?
Attorney Guy D’Andrea: Victims have both criminal and civil options. On the criminal side, law enforcement investigates and prosecutors pursue charges, as we’re seeing in this case. For civil cases, victims can file lawsuits against the perpetrator for damages, such as emotional distress, therapy costs, and other related losses.
Medina: Are there specific challenges victims face when pursuing these cases?
D’Andrea: Absolutely. One challenge is the power dynamic between the psychologist and patient. The trust placed in therapists can make it particularly difficult for victims to come forward. Additionally, victims often worry about privacy and the emotional toll of legal proceedings.
Medina: How can victims protect themselves and their rights during this process?
D’Andrea: It’s critical to document everything, no matter how small it seems—texts, emails, or anything unusual. Seeking legal counsel early on ensures victims understand their rights and options. Confidentiality is typically preserved, and attorneys can help navigate both the emotional and legal complexities.
Medina: What would you say to someone who feels hesitant to report such abuse?
D’Andrea: I would encourage them to prioritize their safety and well-being. Reporting not only helps them but also prevents others from being harmed. There are professionals and organizations ready to support victims every step of the way.
