An accident involving three semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle has resulted in the death of one person and injured several others. The accident took place on the I-10 near the Citrus Street off-tramp at around 3 a.m. on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. Traffic had backed up because of a different crash and instead of coming to a full stop, the driver of one of the semi-trucks failed to slow down. He hit a second semi-truck with such force that the second semi-truck hit a third, which hit a Honda.
The driver of the second tractor-trailer was killed in the collision and another driver was seen being taken away in a neck brace.
Police are investigating.
In researching the facts of this article, I reached out to experienced truck crash lawyer Jason Amala. He generously provided his thoughts on the legal options that may be available to those injured in a truck accident.
“When a driver, trucking company, or body shop makes a mistake and others are hurt as a result, those who have sustained serious injuries can typically take legal action against the responsible party. Examples of common serious injuries caused by trucking accidents can include amputations, spinal trauma, traumatic brain injury, nerve damage, broken bones, and even damage to internal organs.”
“A truck accident lawsuit is filed so that plaintiffs can recover compensation that will ensure they get the best care possible for as long as is needed. Compensation comes through either a successful verdict or settlement and can include not only past expenses but other costs expected to arise in the future,” Bobby concluded.
