Pasco Fire Rescue responded to a 911 call on the afternoon of Thursday, October 10th which reported a serious construction site accident.
The emergency units made their way to an Old Pasco Road project site where they found the victim with slicing injuries from his neck to his jaw. The other workers present on the site, and who had made the emergency call earlier, indicated that the saw had kicked back when the victim was cutting cement.
The man was airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, FL for treatment and remains unidentified. Local authorities are continuing an investigation into this severe accident.
An experienced construction accident attorney and contributor, Michael Haggard shared the following commentary for those who have been victims of construction injuries and who are considering all of their options, including legal ones:
"When the regular American shows up for work every day, they generally have very few concerns for their safety. Yet this is not true for all career paths.
Most notably, construction work is some of the most dangerous in the country. Indeed, workers on construction sites must be extremely alert and careful to avoid losing a limb or worse.
Nevertheless, accidents continue to take place week over week. When you consider the heavy machinery and power tools that construction employees work with every day, you may find this is not so hard to believe.
So, what are the options for the workers who suffer these terrible injuries?
A worker's compensation claim can be the only path for victims to take when they want to pursue compensation after a workplace accident. In fact, it is their right to do so.
Who they reach out to for help through this process is a crucial question as it can mean the difference between a denied claim or a successful one. A construction accident attorney can analyze the circumstances of a case and explain all of the options available to victims and their loved ones."
