Girl Injured in CA High School Stabbing

ABC 7 News reported that a stabbing occurred at Northgate High School located at 425 Castle Rock Rd, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.

A ninth-grade student at Northgate High School was arrested Tuesday for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another ninth-grade student. The teen was taken to the hospital after the incident and is being treated for her injuries. The condition of the victim is unknown.

Parents and students have praised the efforts of a vice principal at the school who was able to subdue the suspect until police arrived. “We were around the softball bleachers and then we see our vice principal running towards something and then we're like, 'what's going on? Kind of goofy. What's going on?” said a student at Northgate High School.

Officers received a call from the school at 1 p.m. saying that there had been a stabbing. The suspected stabber is facing attempted murder and mayhem charges and is being held at the Contra Costa Juvenile Hall on no bail. Police believe the stabbing was an isolated incident between the two students.

Compensation For Victims Stabbed At a High School

Attorney contributor Jason Amala represents victims and their families involved in stabbings and other violent crimes in the state of California. Recently Bobby discussed the compensation available for victims stabbed at a high school.

"As an attorney, I am deeply concerned by the recent high school stabbings that have occurred across the country. It is essential that schools take the necessary security measures to protect their students and reduce the risk of preventable dangers.

Schools have a duty to provide a safe environment for their students and staff, and they must take all reasonable steps to ensure their safety. This includes the implementation of security measures such as metal detectors, security personnel, surveillance cameras, and other measures to deter violence such as stabbings.

Under the law, those injured by preventable dangers are entitled to seek justice and can be awarded compensatory damages for their injuries. This includes medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.

It is my hope that by taking the necessary steps to provide a secure environment, schools can prevent future attacks from occurring and ensure the safety of their students. In the event that a tragedy does occur, those injured have the right to seek justice and hold those responsible accountable. Victims and their families are encouraged to speak to an experienced violent crimes attorney to best explore their legal options."
