ABC 13 has reported that several Spartans Post Grad Academy basketball team players were injured after a private charter bus crashed along Highway 290 and FM 362. The bus rolled over near the Buc-ee's located at 40900 US-290, Waller, TX 77484.

The Waller Police Department reported the crash late Wednesday, April 4, 28, 2022. They arrived to find the single-vehicle collision involving a private charter bus transporting the college basketball team. Onboard were 21 people, including the driver and two team coaches. The fire department had to help free one of the injured victims who was trapped in the bus. Of the wounded, 14 were hospitalized, and two were airlifted to nearby hospitals.

One of the players said he heard a noise before the bus rolled over. The report stated that no other vehicles were involved in the accident and that they are still investigating to determine the cause.

Can I Sue For a Charter Bus Accident?

Attorney contributor Anjali Nigam is an experienced bus accident lawyer who represented victims injured in bus and auto accidents. Anjali recently discussed the legal rights of injured victims of charter bus accidents and the financial compensation they might recover by filing a civil lawsuit.

"Accidents involving a charter bus can happen for a variety of reasons, including defects with the bus itself, the corporation that owns the charter bus, and the traffic that surrounds the vehicle. Internal factors in these instances may lead to complications for the driver, resulting in an unexpected collision and possibly bodily harm to the passengers. When an accident occurs, it is necessary to investigate to identify what caused it. Private charter transportation companies are responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in sound shape and that their drivers are professionals. Additionally, they should regularly do maintenance checks on the vehicle and conduct background checks on their drivers to reduce the risk of preventable incidents. If the transportation company neglected to regulate safely, they could be held liable for injuries related to the accident."

"Through the aid of an experienced bus accident lawyer, victims of these incidents may be able to identify the various elements that contributed to the accident. Injured victims may be entitled to financial compensation by filing a lawsuit against a third party, such as a negligent transportation company. For example, if the driver had a history of reckless driving, but the employer allowed them to continue to drive, they could be deemed negligent. Victims involved in a private charter bus accident should seek the aid of an experienced bus accident lawyer to explore their legal rights fully."
