2 Killed and 2 Injured in Deadly TX Truck Accident

According to News Channel 10, tragedy struck Interstate 40 west of Vega when a three-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two people and left two others injured.

At about 7:40 a.m. on February 27, 2023, a GMC Sierra pickup truck was facing eastbound on I-40 in the outside lane when it was struck from behind by a tractor semi-trailer. The pickup was pushed south through the center median cable barrier and into the inside westbound lane, where it struck the second semi-trailer and caused it to overturn and become fully engulfed with flames.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Cindy Barkley confirmed two fatalities, both of whom were pronounced dead on the scene. Two others were taken to a nearby hospital for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this tragic accident.

Compensation For Truck Accident Victims

Attorney contributor Anjali Nigam is an experienced semi-truck accident attorney who frequently represents victims and their surviving family members in Texas. Anjali recently highlighted the legal options available for victims injured or killed in tractor-trailer truck accidents.

"Accidents caused by tractor-trailers and semi-trucks can cause severe injuries or even death. Large truck drivers should follow proper driving practices to reduce the risks of accidents. Distracted driving is one of the main causes of accidents, along with excessive speeds, failing to yield to other traffic, and ignoring traffic signals. A negligent truck driver can be held responsible for injuries they cause."

"The victims of tractor-trailer and semi-truck accidents should talk to an experienced semi-truck accident attorney to explore their legal options. Those who are injured or killed in a trucking accident have the right to seek compensation for the negligent acts of the trucking company or the manufacturer. Depending on the circumstances, this can be done through a civil lawsuit, which can provide monetary compensation to cover any medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering caused by the accident. In addition, family members of those killed in the accident may also seek compensation for the loss of their loved one. It is important for those injured or killed in a trucking accident to seek the help of an experienced attorney who can help them obtain the compensation they deserve."
