Shooting at Tampa Bar Injures Five, Authorities Investigate Multiple Shooters

Fox News reported the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting that took place at the Tally Ho Bar Lounge & Grill located at 7402 N 56th St #902, Tampa, FL 33617, resulting in injuries to five individuals early Sunday morning July 23, 2023.

According to reports, deputies were dispatched to the bar located at 7402 North 56th Street around 3 a.m. in response to multiple reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, investigators discovered a sizable crowd gathered at the bar, attending a party organized by the establishment.

Surprisingly, no victims were found at the crime scene. However, it was soon revealed that five individuals, all suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, had separately sought medical attention at various local hospitals. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office confirmed that all five victims were connected to the party being held at the Tally Ho Bar Lounge & Grill.

In light of the incident, the Gunfire Response Investigations Team (GRIT) has been called to the scene to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. One of the primary aspects under investigation is the possibility of there being more than one shooter involved in the shooting.

Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed deep concern over the violent incident, stating, "It is disheartening to hear that the lives of so many people were jeopardized because a few people think the way to solve their problems is with violence." He further assured the community that GRIT, an organization dedicated to combating gun violence, would take swift action to bring the responsible shooters to justice.

Gun Violence Attorney Shares Bar Shooting Victims' Legal Rights

Due to the recent shooting, questions arise about what victims of bar shootings can do to seek justice and hold liable parties accountable. To shed light on this matter, we sat down with Mike Haggard, Esq., a Florida-based Gun Violence Attorney experienced in handling violent crimes cases. In this exclusive interview, Mr. Haggard offers valuable insights and guidance to the victims of bar shootings, outlining their legal options in pursuing civil cases against those responsible.

Darla Medina (DM): In light of the recent bar shooting, we're here to discuss what victims of similar tragic incidents can do when it comes to seeking justice through civil litigation against liable parties. Mr. Haggard, could you shed some light on this matter?

Mike Haggard (MH): Of course, Darla. When innocent individuals suffer injuries in violent incidents like this, they have the right to seek recourse through civil litigation. Victims of bar shootings or any other acts of violence can pursue a civil case against the parties that may be deemed liable for the incident.

DM: And who might these liable parties be in such a situation?

MH: Well, there could be multiple parties held responsible. First and foremost, the shooter or shooters, once identified, can face both criminal charges and civil lawsuits. Additionally, the bar or establishment where the shooting occurred could be held accountable if they were negligent in providing adequate security measures to protect their patrons.

DM: What constitutes negligence in providing security?

MH: Negligence in security may arise if the bar failed to implement reasonable safety measures, such as employing security personnel, having surveillance cameras, or maintaining proper crowd control. If it's determined that these lapses in security contributed to the shooting and injuries, the establishment could be held liable.

DM: And what about the organizers of the party at the bar?

MH: The organizers might also face liability if it can be shown that they contributed to the conditions that led to the shooting. For instance, if they allowed individuals with known violent tendencies or weapons into the party without proper checks, they could be held partially responsible.

DM: That makes sense. What can victims expect when pursuing a civil case?

MH: Victims in civil cases have the opportunity to seek compensation for various damages they suffered due to the shooting. This may include medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and emotional trauma. An experienced attorney can help victims navigate the legal process and ensure their rights are protected.

DM: Is there any advice you would like to offer to victims shot at a bar or nightclub?

MH: I would advise them to seek medical attention immediately if they haven't already and to preserve any evidence related to the incident. It's crucial to consult with an attorney who specializes in gun violence cases to understand their rights and explore the options for pursuing justice through the civil justice system.

DM: Absolutely. Thank you, Mr. Haggard, for providing us with valuable insights into this complex matter. We hope this information can assist those impacted by such tragedies in understanding their legal rights and options.
