Woman Holding a Knife Shot by Policeman

According to NBC4, a shooting occurred outside of a group home located at 8000 Gosport Ln, Springfield, VA 22151 on July 19th, 2021 around 5:30 p.m.

Reportedly, a woman holding a knife allegedly threatened to stab the police officers at the scene and was shot.

The two officers were called to the group home by a care provider and upon arrival, the woman was allegedly acting erratically and was threatening to hurt herself or the police officers.

Police bodycam footage shows the police officers arriving at the scene and confronting the woman who proceeded to move towards the officers claiming she wasn't going to stop and that she would stab the officers.

One of the officers then shot her in the stomach and the woman is reportedly in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Legal Options for Victims of Police Shootings

Attorney Kevin Biniazan is an experienced legal representative with years of trial experience. Biniazan offers advice for victims of police shootings.

"If police misconduct results in the personal injuries of a shooting victim, the victim or their loved ones have the right to pursue legal justice. Victims or their families can file a police shooting lawsuit against an officer, the police department, or county, to pursue financial compensation,"

"The use of a deadly firearm should be the last result for police officers. If you or someone you love has fallen victim to a police shooting, it is in your best interest to seek legal representation. A police shooting lawyer can help the victim, and their loved ones file a lawsuit and get the financial compensation they deserve via a court settlement, court award, or out-of-court settlement."
