Massive Apartment Explosion Leaves Ten Injured

According to USA Today, an explosion destroyed a four-story building at the Friendly Garden Apartments located at 2423 Lyttonsville Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, a massive blast destroyed the apartment complex, leaving ten people injured and many still missing. Three of the ten people hospitalized were said to be in serious condition. As many as 100 tenants have been displaced, including residents from a neighboring apartment deemed unsafe due to the explosion.

Firefighters continue their search and rescue efforts on Friday morning. An investigation is still being conducted to determine the cause of the fiery explosion.

Although no reports of known gas leaks have been made since January 2021, a nearby apartment was destroyed in a gas explosion in 2016. A three-year investigation found the most likely cause of the explosion was malfunctioning equipment at Washington Gas, yet the firm refuted all allegations. Seven died and as many as 68 were injured during that apartment building blast.

Gas Explosion Victims Can Get Justice

Aaron Blank, a legal contributor from Maryland, has years of experience representing injured victims of gas explosions. Aaron files lawsuits for residents wounded due to an apartment gas explosion or a collapsed building. During a recent interview, he discussed the legal rights accessible to gas explosion victims.

Attorney contributor Aaron Blank is an experienced gas explosion attorney in the state of Maryland. Aaron represents victims who have suffered injuries during a gas explosion or building collapse. During a recent interview, he explained the legal options available to victims injured in gas explosions.

"Gas companies have a legal obligation to ensure the safety of the services and equipment to their customers. They are responsible for doing routine maintenance and safety inspections that guarantee that neighborhoods are leak-free. If a gas pipeline system is not in good operating order or if maintenance is neglected, an explosion could occur. Gas explosions may cause extensive property damage, serious injuries, and even death."

"If a victim is injured by a gas explosion, they may be able to file a case against the gas company if they acted in negligence. Victims may recover financial compensation for property damage, medical bills, and evacuation fees in many cases of negligence. Identifying the cause of a gas explosion, on the other hand, is a difficult task. In some circumstances, many parties, including the gas company, may be held liable. If victims or their families have suffered serious or fatal injuries, they should contact an experienced gas explosion lawyer."
