Stabbing at Gentlemen's Club Leaves One Injured

According to ABC Channel 7, a man was injured after being stabbed at the Cheetah Lounge located at 3939 N Washington Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34234.

Police responded to a call at about 2:45 a.m. early Monday morning on September 6, 2021. The victim and another man, both reported by police as uncooperative, were found in the parking lot when police arrived. One had a stab wound under his arm. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. His condition was later updated to include serious injuries, including a punctured lung.

The strip club's manager claimed four men got into a fight inside the strip club, and he asked them to leave. He stated that he did not witness the victim get stabbed but saw two of the men cross the street and leave in a car once outside of the club.

Legal Options of Victims Stabbed Outside a Strip Club

Attorney contributor Michael Haggard is an experienced violent crimes attorney that has represented numerous victims and their families in civil lawsuits. During an interview, Michael shared some of the legal options of victims stabbed at a strip club.

"Gentlemen and strip club owners are legally obligated to provide a level of safety to both the patrons and staff on their property. In order to provide this protection, club owners should implement security measures in order to maintain safety and prevent crimes from taking place on the property. There are many measures club owners can take, such as hiring security guards, installing surveillance cameras, and sufficient lighting throughout the property. If club owners fail to provide ample security measures and a crime takes place, they could be deemed responsible in a civil lawsuit."

"Victims of crimes, like stabbings, that happen on strip club property should inquire if adequate security prevention was in place at the time of the crime. In cases of stabbings on private property, if a crime is found to be reasonably foreseeable, the club owner can be considered negligent in a court of law. A foreseeable crime can include one that happens after a club owner fails to increase its security even though they are aware of the area's crime rates increasing. Victims of stabbings at a club should employ the services of an experienced violent crime attorney to explore all their legal options fully."
