WSFA reported that a semi-truck crashed into a shuttle van carrying students from Holbrook Indian School located at 2001 McLaws Rd, Holbrook, AZ 86025.
The accident occurred at 9:30 a.m. just outside Sanders, AZ on I-40. Officials say the shuttle van, heading to a school field trip at Window Rock, the capital of the Navajo Nation, slowed due to an earlier accident. Unfortunately, the semi-truck behind them did not slow down fast enough and rear-ended the van. The van then hit the van in front of them. One student died from her injuries, and six others were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
Attorney contributor Kevin Biniazan is an experienced semi-truck accident lawyer representing victims and their families injured in collisions. Kevin recently discussed the legal options available for victims injured or killed in semi-truck accidents.
"Crashes involving a semi-truck and another vehicle can lead to severe injuries or even death. When full, semi-trucks can weigh as much as 80,000 lbs. Truck drivers need to be more attentive drivers and aware of other drivers. Distracted driving is one of the most common causes of accidents, even semi-truck collisions. If a negligent semi-truck driver causes an accident, they should and can be held responsible. Negligent driving might include failing to obey traffic signals, speeding, and failing to yield to traffic."
"An experienced semi-truck accident lawyer can help accident victims, and their families identify their best legal options. Additionally, they can help determine if other parties may be at fault. This could include the trucking company, a truck manufacturer, or other third parties that neglected to prevent the accident. Accidents often result from negligence, such as ignored maintenance or an unlicensed driver. An accident lawyer can help victims and their families decide on the best course of legal action."
