One Killed in Fatal Texas Truck Accident

KETK reported of tragedy on U.S. Highway 259 and FM 850 between Henderson and Kilgore Thursday morning after a major crash involving a tractor-trailer tanker truck that officials said was “leaking large amounts of what appears to be some type of oil product.”

At 6:50 a.m. on March 23, 2023, multiple fire and rescue agencies responded to the crash, where it was reported that an 18-wheeler was on top of another vehicle with entrapment. DPS said the tanker truck began leaking an “oil product” around 6:55 a.m., according to Crims Chapel VFD, and TxDOT was requested to the area.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Sadly, the driver of the 2006 Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash is still under investigation. The cause of the crash and the identity of the leaked oil product is still unknown. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families affected by this tragedy.

Compensation For Victims Killed in Tanker Truck Accidents

Attorney contributor Marc Lenahan works for a truck accident law firm in the state of Texas. With many years of experience representing injured victims and their surviving family members, Marc seeks justice for truck accidents. He recently discussed the legal options available for families of those killed in fatal truck collisions.

"Trucking companies have a duty of care to ensure their trucks are safe and properly maintained. If a trucking company fails to inspect and maintain its vehicles, it could result in negligent behavior and increase the risk of an accident. The trucking company could be held liable for any injuries sustained in a truck accident if they are found to have breached their duty of care."

"Victims of truck accidents and their surviving families have the right to seek compensation for their losses. This can include medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and much more. To recover compensation, victims must be able to show that the trucking company was negligent. This can be done by providing evidence of improper maintenance or repair, inadequate training of truck drivers, or any other breach of duty of care that may have contributed to the accident."

"It is important for victims of truck accidents to remember that they are entitled to pursue legal action and seek compensation. Consulting with an experienced truck accident attorney can help victims understand their legal rights and guide them through the legal process."
