Massage Therapist Christopher Sais Charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact

Attorney Analysis: See the second section of this story for legal commentary from massage therapist sexual assault lawyer Dan Lipman on the legal rights of massage therapy sexual assault victims.

37-year-old licensed massage therapist Christopher Sais was arrested in late April after more than ten possible victims came forward to report that Sais had sexually assaulted them during massages.

According to the police, Sais is accused of having sexual contact with a high school student while giving a massage at Souler Wellness Center on West 5th Street. Sais was initially arrested for these allegations and could face more charges due to the other alleged victims who have come forward.

Pueblo investigators returned to Souler Wellness Center on April 29, a couple of days after Sais was arrested. Officers served a search warrant to gather additional evidence for the case.

Investigators are still interviewing potential victims. No additional charges have been filed at this time.

Who is Liable for Sexual Assault by a Massage Therapist?

Attorney contributor Dan Lipman is a lawyer for victims of sexual assault by massage therapists and others in positions of trust. We've asked Dan to discuss the legal options available to massage therapist sexual assault victims:

Massage therapists are trusted to treat their clients professionally. Because of the nature of this field, there is a high risk of abuse if a massage therapist is untrustworthy. While most massage therapists are trustworthy, there have also been hundreds of reports of massage therapists sexually assaulting clients at spas and massage studios across the country.

The owners of these businesses have a legal duty to make sure their customers are safe. With the widespread nature of the sexual assault crisis in massage therapy, protections against sexual assault are a crucial part of this legal duty. When a massage therapist is arrested for sexually assaulting clients, it's important to determine if the spa owner was negligent in a way that enabled the assaults to occur.

In massage therapy sexual assault cases involving negligence, the victims may have grounds for a lawsuit against the business owner. If you or a loved one has been sexually assaulted by a massage therapist, you can learn more about your legal rights in a free consultation with one of our experienced massage therapy sexual assault lawyers.
