A number of law firms have begun to produce television commercials alerting consumers to the growing litigation against Tristar Products, manufacturer of a popular “As Seen On TV” pressure cooker, the Power Pressure Cooker XL.
TV Ads Notify Consumers Of Pressure Cooker Lawsuits
The commercials often say that dozens of home cooks have suffered severe injuries after their pressure cooker exploded without warning, usually under normal operating conditions. Some consumers have sustained second- and third-degree burns, requiring emergency medical treatment and weeks in the hospital.
The majority of these ads focus on Tristar’s Power Pressure Cooker XL, which seems to be at the root of most consumer complaints, but some commercials also mention models manufactured by Fagor America, California’s Maxi-Matic and Tabletops Unlimited. The TV spots end by informing viewers who have been similarly injured to contact legal counsel immediately, since filing a pressure cooker lawsuit may be possible.

In the wake of dozens of devastating pressure cooker explosions, our lawyers have begun to offer free consultations to any home cook interested in learning more about the developing litigation against Tristar.
The Legal Herald is sponsored by a national coalition of legal professionals. Our attorneys are dedicated to promoting the rights of American consumers. In September and November 2017, our lawyers filed two multi-plaintiff lawsuits against Tristar Products, presenting the claims of 12 separate consumers to a State Court in Pennsylvania. Our clients all claim to have been using the Power Pressure Cooker XL as directed, when the machine suddenly exploded, sending scalding hot liquid and food flying. After suffering severe burns and emotional trauma, our clients chose to file suit against Tristar, demanding financial compensation for their pain, suffering and medical expenses.
Now, it’s your turn to act. If you or a loved one sustained injuries when a Power Pressure Cooker XL unexpectedly blew up, you may be entitled to significant financial compensation. Contact our attorneys now for more information. While you may have a viable claim for compensation, uncompromising state laws can restrict the amount of time eligible plaintiffs are allowed to file suit. Time is of the essence.
Power Pressure Cooker XL Can Blow Up, Complaints Say
Recent reports suggest that Tristar’s blockbuster model, the Power Pressure Cooker XL, may harbor dangerous design defects, which would render the product inherently unsafe.
Complaints submitted to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, an arm of the federal government, describe terrifying accidents and close-calls. A dozen reports say the Power Pressure Cooker XL can explode without a moment’s notice, spraying scalding hot liquids and food across the kitchen. Many reports focus on the product’s “Safe-Lock Lid,” a safety mechanism that Tristar claims cannot be opened until all of the pressure has been released.
In contrast to these marketing claims, many home cooks describe releasing the cooker’s pressure and carefully opening the device’s lid, only to have the lid blow off forcefully, covering the consumer in burning liquid. A number of reports also question the safety of the pressure cooker’s release valve, which appears to have failed in several cases.
Pressure Cooker Victims Win Compensation
At least two couples have already filed successful product liability lawsuits against Tristar Products. Both claims, which accused Tristar of manufacturing and marketing a “dangerously defective” pressure cooker, were ultimately resolved in undisclosed settlement agreements, with couples from Texas and Florida securing compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages and other damages. Dozens of complaints are still pending in federal courts across the country.
Tristar Products is well-represented among these lawsuits, but other manufacturers, including Fagor America, Maxi-Matic and Lifetime Brands have been drawn into court as well. Several major retailers that stock pressure cookers are also being sued for, as plaintiffs claim, allowing an unreasonably dangerous product to remain on the market. To date, the Home Shopping Network, Walmart and Bed, Bath and Beyond have all been named as additional defendants in pressure cooker explosion lawsuits.
Who Is Eligible To Pursue A Claim?
As TV commercials note, anyone who sustained injuries due to a pressure cooker explosion may be eligible to pursue a product liability lawsuit. Our experienced attorneys believe that hundreds of consumers could be entitled to financial compensation.
Exploding pressure cookers have been linked to severe burns; some consumers have been forced to spend weeks in the hospital receiving treatment. Medical bills can soar into the tens of thousands of dollars. Property damage can also be significant, to say nothing of the emotional trauma experienced by many home cooks when a trusted kitchen appliance suddenly blows up during operation. Damage awards can be substantial, compensating injured consumers for their medical expenses, time out of work and physical disfigurement. Non-economic damages are often awarded to compensate plaintiffs for the experience of pain and psychological suffering.
