Elementary School Bus Accident Leaves 3 Students and Bus Driver Injured

According to WJAC, a Bellefonte Area School District bus hit a tree while transporting children from Pleasant Valley Elementary School located at 230 S Main St, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823.

Emergency responders were dispatched just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, after a report that a bus hit a tree on the 2900 block of Greens Valley Road. The eight students aboard the bus were able to free themselves before the emergency responders arrived. The school bus driver was trapped due to the extent of damage to the front of the bus. First responders say it took a while to free the driver, who was then flown to the hospital for medical treatment. Three of the eight elementary students were taken to nearby hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Many children were said to have suffered cuts from the broken glass.

Compensation For Victims Injured in School Bus Accidents

Attorney Brian Kent is an experienced school bus accident lawyer representing victims across Pennsylvania. Brian sat down with us to discuss some of the legal rights of injured victims of school bus accidents and the financial compensation they might recover by filing a civil lawsuit.

"There are a number of reasons for school bus accidents, including defects with the bus itself, as well as other traffic and road conditions. In these instances, internal factors may lead to problems for the driver, resulting in an unexpected collision and bodily harm to the student passengers. It's important to find out what led up to the accident. Elementary school transportation companies have a duty to ensure their vehicles are in good running shape. They should ensure their drivers are properly trained and regularly maintain their vehicles to reduce the risk of preventable incidents. If the transportation company neglected to regulate safely, they could be held responsible for a school bus accident."

"An experienced bus accident lawyer can help the victims of an elementary school bus accident identify all parties responsible for the accident. If an injured victim or their family files a lawsuit against a negligent transportation company, they might be entitled to financial compensation. An accident lawyer can ensure the victim recovers all compensation they rightfully deserve."
