"The safety of a restaurant owner's patrons and staff should be a top priority. In fact, restaurant owners are legally required to ensure their establishments are reasonably secure and safe from preventable dangers, including shootings. When a shooting occurs in a restaurant, it is crucial to determine if they met this legal duty. Inquiries should identify safety measures such as security cameras, sufficient lighting, and other safety precautions. If these steps were ignored, the owner could be found negligent for failing to reduce the risk of violent crime on their property."
"Inadequate security and other forms of negligence by the restaurant owner can allow foreseeable crime to take place. Additionally, if the area was susceptible to violence, the restaurant owner would be required to increase its security. However, in cases of negligence, shooting victims may have grounds to file a lawsuit. By consulting with an experienced lawyer, victims can explore the best legal action for their situation."
