What Legal Rights Do Pedestrians Have After Being Hit By A Truck?

Tractor trailer accident attorney and contributor Michael Haggard has spoken on the legal rights of those involved in pedestrian accidents with tractor-trailers:

"Whenever a pedestrian is hit by a large moving vehicle they are lucky if they survive. Life-altering injuries are typical and this can end a career and place significant financial strain on the injured and their loved ones. There are ways to recover compensation that will help to pay for physical pain and suffering, emotional trauma, medical bills, and lost wages. This compensation is meant to cover both past and expected future losses.

For example, if a patient has two initial surgeries but will likely have to have an additional three over their lifetime, those future surgeries could be paid for through a settlement or verdict obtained through a truck accident lawsuit.

Trucking companies who know that they may face legal action often conveniently "lose" evidence like the black box that is in many trucks. This black box tracks the speed of the truck and can also determine things like if the brakes were applied prior to collision.

If you or a loved one have been seriously injured in a truck accident, contact an experienced attorney who can help to preserve this evidence as quickly as possible."
