45-Year-Old Man Was riding Westbound When He Was Struck By A 2019 Freightliner
The Oxnard Police Department responded to the accident on Thursday, October 10th about 30 minutes before noon.
At the scene, they encountered the injured bicycle rider, though the truck involved in the incident was not present. Authorities encountered the truck shortly after, with the 55-year-old driver claiming he had not realized that he struck the victim. He has continued to cooperate in the investigation.
It is not clear at this time if the rider was pronounced dead at the scene or if he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Neither name has been released by officials at this time.
Attorney Bobby Thompson has shared the following insight on the legal rights of victims injured in tractor-trailer accidents:
“Most people can understand how devastating the death of a loved one can be, especially when it occurs at the hands of a negligent driver. While criminal charges may be filed by authorities, these legal proceedings will only help a grieving family know that those responsible have been punished for their misgivings.
Unfortunately, it cannot help them with financial pressures in a household, but a truck or tractor-trailer accident lawsuit can.
If a truck accident lawsuit is pursued and won, it can help pay for damages such as:
- Funeral and burial proceedings
- Loss of income
- Emotional pain and suffering
While this process can’t bring a loved one back or undo the tragic circumstances, it can help provide those left behind with the support they need.
Consulting an attorney as soon as possible after a truck accident is quite critical, as an experienced legal team can chase down and preserve valuable evidence that can bolster a plaintiff’s claim.”
