Chiropractor Sam Khumooro Arrested After Multiple Allegations of Sexual Battery

52-year-old Moreno Valley chiropractor Sam Khumooro was arrested on Thursday, September 12 after a patient reported being sexually assaulted at his office. This latest arrest was the second time police have visited his office for allegations of sexual battery. The first was about a year ago, but officers did not make an arrest for what they said was a lack of evidence.

The first reported assault was in September of 2018, when a patient reported that Khumooro had groped her while in his office.

Deputies with the Moreno Valley Station responded to a report of sexual battery at the office in the 23000 block of Allesandro Boulevard on July 25, 2019. During this second response to the office, investigators determined that they had enough evidence to arrest Khumooro.

Moreno Valley Station investigators believe that these incidents are not isolated and have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim or who has information related to this investigation has been encouraged to contact Investigator Pentel at (951) 486-6793.

Khumooro has been a licensed chiropractor in California since September of 1998.

Legal Recourse for Victims of Sexual Assault by Doctors

Attorney contributor Jason Amala represents victims of sexual assault in civil lawsuits and has experience in cases involving sexual assaults by doctors. Here are a few of Bobby’s thoughts on the legal rights of patients who have been sexually assaulted by doctors:

Doctors are some of the most trusted professionals in their communities. The professional relationship between a doctor and their patients is perhaps one of the most sacred and longlasting professional relationships there is. Most doctors are indeed trustworthy people, but sadly, there have also been many cases of doctors violating their patient’s trust by committing heinous sexual crimes against them.

When a patient is sexually assaulted by a doctor, that patient must be aware of their legal rights. Reporting the assault to police is an important first step, but the legal rights of victims don’t always stop here. In many cases, victims of doctor sexual assault may also have grounds for a sexual assault lawsuit against the doctor.

If you or a loved one is a survivor of sexual assault by a doctor, you can learn more about your legal options by discussing your case with an experienced sexual assault victims lawyer in a free consultation.
