A 32-year-old man from Crandall, Matthan Lough, was apprehended last week on charges of child grooming, as confirmed by the Mesquite Police Department on Thursday, according to Fox 4. Lough, who previously served as a teacher and coach in the local school system, was taken into custody following an investigation that began on October 2, 2025. This probe was initiated after police were alerted to potential child grooming activities occurring at the Christian Center of Mesquite, located at 4401 E Cartwright Rd, Mesquite, TX 75181.
The arrest warrant for Lough stemmed from claims related to this disturbing case, although further details surrounding the alleged activities have not been disclosed by authorities. He is reportedly no longer in police custody.
In the wake of the investigation, authorities uncovered Lough's past access to minors through his professional history. He had taught and coached at Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy in Mesquite, in addition to serving as a club volleyball coach with a local team.
Lough is also connected to the Christian Center of Mesquite as the son of former Senior Pastor Kevin Lough, who resigned from his position on November 23, 2025, shortly after the allegations surfaced.
The Church Board of the Christian Center of Mesquite issued a statement addressing Lough’s arrest, expressing strong condemnation of his alleged actions.
