A local pastor has been suspended from his duties amid serious allegations of child pornography. Douglas R. Overmyer, age 51, was arrested by the Mattoon Police Department after the Coles County State's Attorney's Office filed a Class X felony charge against him, according to WCIA.
Overmyer, who had been serving as a supply pastor for the Great Lakes Annual Conference, was appointed to Zion Hill Church, located 2436 N Co Rd 150 E, Mattoon, IL 61938. Officials announced his immediate suspension following the allegations.
Charging documents reveal that Overmyer is accused of sharing a video that depicts an underage girl and an adult male in a sexual act. The offense reportedly occurred around May 20, 2025. Given the sensitive nature of the case, authorities are conducting an active investigation and have refrained from disclosing further details.
In response to the ongoing situation, Dr. G. Scott Pattison, Conference Superintendent, emphasized that the Global Methodist Church condemns any form of abuse. The organization remains prepared to assist law enforcement as needed. "Our prayers are with all who may be affected," Pattison stated.
Efforts to obtain additional comments from Zion Hill Church have so far gone unanswered. A source familiar with the church conveyed that Overmyer had links to another group, Seers See, which focuses on providing guidance to those with the "seeing gift."
Overmyer also previously held a position as Executive Director of CHI RHO Outdoors, an organization designed to provide outdoor experiences for boys and young men. However, CHI RHO Outdoors has confirmed that Overmyer is no longer associated with them.
