Attorney Comments: In the second part of this story, truck accident lawyer Jason Amala will discuss the legal options available to people injured in truck and auto accidents.
Eight people were injured after investigators say a tow truck ran a red light in South Los Angeles late last night. Two LAPD officers were among those injured and one had to be rescued from his vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
The rescued officer and the tow truck driver were both critically injured and hospitalized. The second officer was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Los Angeles police say that the four-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Main Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
The two police officers were responding to another call when the tow truck reportedly ran a red light and crashed into three cars, including the patrol car.
Five other people suffered minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation and no exact cause has been determined yet.
Legal Herald contributor and experienced personal injury lawyer Jason Amala represents individuals injured in truck accidents and other auto accidents. He courteously shared some info to share on the legal rights of people injured in automotive accidents involving trucks, semi-trucks, or even tractor-trailers.
“If you’ve recently been injured in an auto accident, it’s almost expected for you to be faced with significant financial and personal difficulties resulting from the accident. As a result, it’s important to be aware of your options for financial compensation. More importantly, and along with financial benefits that insurance coverage may provide, you may have grounds for a personal injury lawsuit.”
Bobby explained, “In accidents involving trucks and other commercial vehicles, a lawsuit may be presented against the driver, the truck company, or both parties. If the accident was caused by the driver’s negligence, he or she could be held liable. If negligence by the company contributed to the accident, then those injured may have grounds for a lawsuit against the company.”
