Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to the scene on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 22nd after three semi-trucks collided in 4 separate crashes. It is not clear at this time if other passenger vehicles were also involved.
The incident took place south of the Dunn Ave exit, north of Trout River, and caused the northbound lanes of I-295 to close until about 4PM.
Two of the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment with their current condition still unknown. Florida Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the multi-vehicle accident but has yet to release any further details.
Michael Haggard, an experienced truck accident attorney and legal contributor to The Legal Herald, offered the following insight for persons who may have suffered injuries in a car crash involving a truck:
"Every day in the United States, millions of Americans get in their cars and drive themselves to work, to their homes, or to countless other locations. Naturally, most of these drivers don't even think about the possibility of being involved in a car accident.
Yet, countless drivers are injured every year when they find themselves involved in unexpected accidents. Of these accidents, semi-truck and tractor-trailer crashes are often the most dangerous as they cause some of the worst injuries.
The types of injuries that individuals can suffer in a truck accident include bone fractures, brain damage, spinal injuries, and organ damage, among many others. As you can see, these are not light injuries. In fact, these can even turn deadly.
After an accident, the road to recovery for victims can be tough, to say the least. Medical bills quickly start to pile up while victims and their loved ones are still dealing with trauma from the experience. Even worse, sometimes the victim is the breadwinner of a family, and if the injury has put them out of work, then the members of the household are left to struggle and fend for themselves.
Fortunately, it is in situations like these that the law permits victims to come forward with a truck accident lawsuit. This type of lawsuit is filed against a person who is considered to have acted with negligence and therefore caused the accident. If successful, a lawsuit can provide compensation for the victim and their families that will cover damages suffered after the incident such as medical bills and loss of income.
Those who may have suffered injuries in a truck crash should contact an attorney as soon as possible to learn about their legal options and how they can move forward in the pursuit of justice."
