A North Texas pediatric medical assistant has been arrested on charges of molesting children while in his care, according to Fox 4. Angel Nunez, 25, was taken into custody by Irving police on September 5, 2024, facing an indecency with a child charge.
The investigation began when the pediatric clinic where Nunez worked contacted authorities after learning he allegedly molested a 14-year-old boy during a purported medical examination. In August, police received a tip suggesting inappropriate sexual contact with multiple children at Little Spurs Pediatrics located at 3313 W Airport Fwy Suite 3313, Irving, TX 75062.
Irving Police revealed that the patients believed they were receiving necessary medical care, unaware they were being victimized. The arrest warrant affidavit details one incident where Nunez, during a sports physical, performed an unauthorized hernia exam on a 14-year-old boy, touching his genitals despite lacking the training or authority to conduct such an examination.
Investigators noted that Nunez's responsibilities included taking vitals, but he was not a physician. During questioning at the Irving Family Advocacy Center, the victim recounted how Nunez took him into a second exam room away from his mother, claiming he needed to conduct an eye exam. Once alone, Nunez allegedly asked the boy to lower his pants for a genital exam that lasted approximately two minutes.
Security footage from the clinic corroborated the victim's account, showing him being taken into a second exam room alone.
Nunez was employed at Little Spurs Pediatrics for about a year and was terminated in August following the clinic’s discovery of the incident. The company released a statement indicating they promptly reported the matter to Child Protective Services and launched an internal investigation upon learning of the misconduct.
"We are fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue their investigation," the statement read.
Detective Andy Padrutt reported that there are currently three identified victims, but authorities believe more may exist. The Irving police are urging parents to speak with their children about any past interactions with Nunez.
Anyone who suspects their child may have been affected is encouraged to reach out to police at 972-273-1010.
Nunez has since been released from Dallas County jail after posting a $100,000 bond.
