Texas Truck Accident Leaves One Dead, One Injured

Gonzales Inquirer has reported that a fatal collision occurred at the intersection of US 183 and Farm-to-Market Road 2067, just 12 miles south of Gonzales, Texas.

At about 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, a married couple was driving in their GMC Denali heading south on US 183 when a 2013 Mack truck-tractor failed to yield and collided with them. The Denali was struck by the truck, causing it to roll over, trapping the driver. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 a.m. Her husband was taken to an ambulance for his injuries but is listed in stable condition. The accident is still under investigation, and no citations were given.

Lawsuits For Tractor-Trailer Accident Victims

Attorney contributor Anjali Nigam is an experienced tractor-trailer truck accident attorney representing victims and their surviving family members in the state of Texas. Anjali recently discussed the legal options available for victims injured or killed in tractor-trailer collisions.

"Accidents caused by tractor-trailers can lead to severe injuries or even death. Large truck drivers are expected to follow proper driving practices in order to reduce the risks of accidents. One of the leading causes of accidents is distracted driving, along with driving at excessive speeds, failing to yield to other traffic, and ignoring traffic signals. A negligent truck driver can be held responsible for injuries caused by an accident."

"The victims of tractor-trailer accidents should consult with an experienced truck accident lawyer to explore their legal options for compensation. They will help determine if the victim or their family can file a civil lawsuit. In many cases, it is possible to file a lawsuit against the negligent truck driver, as well as negligent third parties such as the trucking company. If the company failed to ensure the driver was licensed to drive the type of truck, they could be deemed liable. Additionally, if they were aware of prior traffic infractions on the driver's history, they could be considered negligent. Many factors will be taken into consideration, and an experienced truck attorney can help the victim get the justice they deserve."
