On the morning of Tuesday, October 1st, Linda Weherley was riding her bicycle on Many Road in North Fort Myers around 8:30 AM. As she was crossing the intersection with Pine Island Road, she was struck by a semi-truck.
Weherley was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries which were severe, but which have not been specified. The driver of the truck remained at the scene, cooperating with officials.
Unfortunately, Weherley passed away on Saturday, October 19th from the injuries resulting from the semi-truck accident.
The crash is still being investigated by local authorities.
Michael Haggard, an experienced semi truck accident lawyer, and contributor to The Legal Herald shared the following information for victims of truck accident and their families:
"Receiving a call informing you of your loved one's involvement in a truck crash is likely one of the worst fears for most people. Indeed, when anyone is involved in a truck accident, it's probable that there are going to be serious injuries if not deaths.
These injuries often carry significant treatment costs due to their severe nature, and will often require the most advanced treatment and therapy for recovery.
Unfortunately, insurance policies will rarely cover all of these expenses which means that victims and their loved ones are left to deal with the trauma of the accident, along with the financial burden, all on their own.
Through a truck accident lawsuit, the victim and their families have a path for recovering a compensation that allows them to pay for all medical treatments. In the case of a death resulting from the accident, additional compensation can also be awarded to pay for damages that can include funeral costs and loss of companionship, among others.
In the toughest times, victims deserve the help of someone who can take care of the work while they concentrate on recovering. This is exactly what an experienced truck accident can do, finally giving victims and their loved ones the peace of mind they need to heal, knowing they have someone fighting to achieve justice."
