A 21-year-old man from southwest Miami-Dade is facing an attempted murder charge after deputies say he allegedly stabbed another man multiple times inside a McDonald’s on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:20 p.m. to the restaurant at 10855 Caribbean Blvd. following reports of a stabbing.
Investigators identified the suspect as Jarvon Moreland, of West Perrine. Authorities say the victim was seated inside the restaurant when Moreland approached and stabbed him multiple times, causing serious injuries.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center for emergency treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Deputies described a chaotic scene inside the restaurant, noting multiple blood spots on the floor. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the entire attack, showing Moreland repeatedly stabbing the victim before fleeing.
Investigators say Moreland left the scene before deputies arrived, prompting a be-on-the-lookout alert. He was later detained near a bus stop along Southwest 107th Avenue, less than a mile from the restaurant.
Detectives recovered a bloody knife near the location where Moreland was taken into custody. A woman who was with him at the time provided a sworn statement identifying him as the attacker.
Authorities said Moreland waived his Miranda rights and gave a full confession, admitting he stabbed the victim multiple times inside the restaurant.
Jail records show he is charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder. As of Thursday morning, he remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bond listed as “to be set.”
Investigators have not confirmed whether Moreland knew the victim. A motive for the stabbing has not been determined.

Violent incidents inside public businesses can leave victims facing serious injuries, mounting medical bills, and long-term emotional harm. In cases of stabbing at a restaurant, legal questions often extend beyond the criminal charges filed against the suspect. To explain what victims can do next, we spoke with Florida crime victim attorney Michael Haggard about potential claims, business responsibility, and the steps that can protect a victim’s rights after an attack.
Editor Darla Medina: When something like this happens inside a restaurant, what options does the victim have beyond the criminal case?
Attorney Michael Haggard: The criminal case is handled by the state, but the victim may also have a civil claim. If the business failed to provide reasonable security or ignored known risks, it can be held financially responsible for the harm that occurred on its property.
Medina: What would need to be shown for a case against the restaurant?
Haggard: You would look at whether there were prior incidents, whether security measures were in place, and whether staff acted appropriately. If there were warning signs and the business did not respond, that can form the basis of a negligent security claim.
Medina: What types of damages could a victim recover?
Haggard: Medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering are common. In severe cases, long-term care and psychological trauma are also considered. These incidents can have lasting effects well beyond the initial injury.
Medina: How important is timing for someone considering legal action?
Haggard: It is very important. Evidence like surveillance footage and witness statements can disappear quickly. Acting early helps preserve key details and strengthens a potential case.
For victims and their families, the aftermath of a violent incident can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to handle it alone. Legal action can help recover financial losses and hold negligent parties accountable for failing to provide a safe environment.
