Attorney contributor Dan Lipman is an experienced sexual assault victim lawyer who has represented several victims of massage therapist sexual assault in civil lawsuits. Dan has some information to share on the legal rights of these victims:
Massage therapists are trusted by their clients and this trust is sacred. No client should be forced to suffer trauma caused by a sexual assault during a massage. But sadly, the massage therapy industry has widespread issues with massage therapists sexually assaulting their clients.
These crimes should be investigated thoroughly, and it's important to determine if the business owner's negligence was a factor in the assault. For example, negligence may have been a factor if the massage therapist was also the owner of the business. In cases of negligence, massage therapy sexual assault victims may have grounds for a lawsuit.
