Authorities in DuPage County have announced new charges against Murtaza Hameed, a 46-year-old chiropractor whose office is located at 3845 McCoy Dr #105, Aurora, IL 60504. These allegations of sexual abuse and assault involve three additional individuals, bringing count to five, according to WGNTV. These charges follow last month’s accusations involving two boys who were under his care.
Hameed appeared in court this morning for his arraignment, where he faced a series of charges, including Criminal Sexual Assault, multiple counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault, and Misdemeanor Battery. A grand jury had returned a thirteen-count indictment against him on May 29, 2025, addressing incidents allegedly involving the three new victims. The alleged abuse spans from 2016 to January 2025 and includes victims ranging in age from pre-adolescents to adult males.
Hameed has been in custody since his initial court appearance on May 12, 2025, when the State successfully argued for the denial of pre-trial release. However, at today’s hearing, Judge Brian Telander granted a defense petition for pre-trial release over the State’s objections. Hameed was released under strict conditions, including electronic monitoring, home confinement, and a prohibition on contact with minors other than his own children.
The case began when the DuPage County Children’s Center received information in January 2025 regarding an alleged assault at Hameed’s chiropractic office in Aurora. Authorities allege that on January 11, 2025, a 17-year-old boy was sexually abused by Hameed during a treatment session. Investigators later uncovered a similar incident dating back to 2016 involving a 16-year-old boy. Following Hameed's arrest, three additional individuals came forward with allegations of inappropriate contact, leading to the latest charges.
The incidents reportedly occurred at Hameed’s office on the 3800 block of McCoy Drive in Aurora. The timeline of the alleged offenses points to a pattern of behavior over nearly a decade.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin highlighted the bravery of the victims in coming forward. “Their strength and determination to speak out are commendable,” Berlin said, urging others who may have been affected to contact investigators. He extended gratitude to all involved in the investigation, including Aurora Police Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth and DuPage County Investigator Dirk Ollech.
Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas emphasized the department’s commitment to supporting victims. “We are here to provide a safe space for those impacted by these crimes to share their experiences,” Thomas stated. He encouraged anyone with information to reach out to investigators.
Hameed is expected back in court on July 8, 2025, before Judge Telander. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information regarding Hameed to contact Investigator Dirk Ollech at 630-407-2750 or Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth at 630-256-5554.
This case remains under active investigation as officials work to ensure justice for the victims.
IL Chiropractor Faces Serious Charges in Alleged Abuse of Teen Boys
Victims of sexual abuse by medical professionals often face a challenging road to justice, compounded by the sensitive nature of their experiences. To better understand the legal options available and the steps victims can take, we spoke with Erv Nevitt, a seasoned Illinois attorney who specializes in sexual abuse cases. Nevitt provided detailed guidance on how victims can assert their rights through criminal, civil, and licensing board actions, offering both accountability and pathways for healing.
Darla Medina (Editor): What legal avenues are available to individuals who have experienced sexual abuse at the hands of a chiropractor?
Erv Nevitt (Attorney): Victims of such abuse can pursue both criminal and civil actions. On the criminal side, the State brings charges against the accused, as we’ve seen in this case with Mr. Hameed. Victims play a vital role as witnesses, and the goal is to secure a conviction that holds the perpetrator accountable under the law.
Medina: And what about civil cases? How do they differ?
Nevitt: Civil cases allow victims to seek financial compensation for the harm they’ve endured. These claims are filed directly by the victims, and they can address damages for emotional distress, therapy costs, and other related expenses. Importantly, civil cases can also target institutions, such as clinics or professional associations, if there’s evidence of negligence or failure to take preventive action.
Medina: Does the professional license of a chiropractor play a role in these cases?
Nevitt: Absolutely. State licensing boards oversee chiropractors, and victims can file complaints with these boards. If misconduct is proven, the chiropractor could face license suspension or revocation. This not only penalizes the individual but also helps protect the public from future harm.
Medina: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to come forward?
Nevitt: I understand the hesitation, as these experiences are deeply personal and painful. But coming forward can be empowering and a step toward healing. There are legal professionals and organizations equipped to provide support every step of the way. Victims are never alone in this process.”
