Justice for Victims of Sexual Assault by Medical Professionals
Attorney Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com helps victims of sexual violence recover the financial compensation they deserve in civil lawsuits. Here is some information from Brian on the legal options available to those who have been sexually assaulted by healthcare professionals:
Sexual predators are often found working in fields that involve trust and authority – including education, religion, and even medicine. Although most of us trust our doctors without a second thought, there are sadly some medical professionals who are sexual predators and who commit heinous crimes against their patients. When this happens, it’s vital to make sure the perpetrator is prosecuted and that the victims get the support they need and deserve.
The victims of these crimes often have the option to pursue justice and financial compensation by filing a lawsuit against their abuser or the facility where the abuse occurred. Doctors can often be held directly liable and medical facilities can also be sued if their negligence allowed the abuse to occur – such as failing to report previous allegations of sexual misconduct by a doctor to law enforcement.
