Attorney Contributor Comments On A Family's Legal Rights After A Fatal Accident

Laurence Banville, an attorney contributor at the Legal Herald, has provided feedback on the legal rights of truck accident victims and their loved ones.

"A truck accident can forever change a family because of serious injuries or the death of a loved one. Not only does this have a severe physical and emotional impact on those involved, but it can also be financially devastating.

Although nothing can change the past, there are medical treatments and therapies that can help those who have been hurt. These treatments, however, can be extremely expensive. For example, if a person sustains a traumatic brain injury, their total lifetime care can cost as much as $3 million dollars.

Insurance won't cover all of the necessary treatments in most cases because once a policy limit has been met, adjusters are told to stop paying claims. A truck accident lawsuit is usually the only hope a victim has of recovering full compensation.

If you or a loved one have been hurt because of a truck accident, you could recover compensation to pay for losses such as:

  • physical pain
  • emotional trauma
  • medical bills
  • lost wages
  • funeral and burial expenses
