Former Goodwell Teacher Charged with Molestation, Child Abuse
Former Goodwell Public Schools teacher Luke Loganbill has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing multiple children. He faces four counts of lewd molestation and four counts of child abuse.
Loganbill was arrested in Kansas on April 17 following an investigation by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department in Oklahoma. In February, officials with Goodwell Public Schools contacted the sheriff’s department to report sexual misconduct by Loganbill. This led to a formal investigation and a felony arrest warrant was issued.
Texas County deputies worked with the Morton County Sheriff’s Office to execute the search warrant on Loganbill’s home in Elkhart, Kansas. Loganbill signed a waiver to return to Oklahoma and booked at the Texas County Detention Center. His bond was eventually set at $25,000 and he has bonded out.

Legal Options For Survivors of Sexual Abuse by Teachers
Attorney contributor Laurence Banville has experience helping survivors of sexual abuse find answers, support, and justice in civil lawsuits. Here is Laurence with some general thoughts on the legal options available to survivors of abuse by teachers and other school employees:
Sadly, we live in a world where sexual predators are regularly found in fields that involve working with children. These predators often seek out positions of authority where they will have the trust of their communities. This trust is then exploited in order to commit terrible crimes against children. Our schools have a crucial responsibility to ensure that their students are safe from the threat of sexual predators.
When a teacher or another school employee sexually abuses students, there are many difficult questions to answer. The accused must be investigated and prosecuted, support must be provided for victims, other students, and parents, and the school should also be investigated to determine if negligence was to blame for enabling or failing to prevent the abuse.
The victims and their families could have grounds for a lawsuit if negligence was involved. For example, a school could be considered negligent if they ignored reports of sexual misconduct by an employee or failed to run a background check before hiring an employee with a history of sexual misconduct.
