Kentucky State Police Investigating Shepherdsville Daycare For Child Abuse
The Kentucky State Police are currently investigating a daycare in Shepherdsville based on allegations of child sexual abuse. Police believe there may be multiple victims of abuse at the Notebook Learning Center on Burkland Boulevard.
According to the Kentucky State Police, on December 3 a parent notified them of alleged sexual abuse of a child. Police are now investigating the allegations and focusing on a specific employee who worked for the daycare.
KSP officers are currently interviewing parents whose children go to the daycare, conducting forensic interviews with children, and interviewing staff.
WAVE 3 News reports that a parent told them the daycare has cameras inside which allow parents to keep an eye on their kids. However, those cameras have not been working for the past few weeks.
No arrests have yet been made in this case. Anyone with additional information or who believes their child may be a victim has been encouraged to contact the Kentucky State Police.
Justice For Daycare Sexual Abuse Victims and Their Families
Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com is a former sex crimes prosecutor who now helps survivors of sexual abuse find justice in civil court. Here is some insight from Brian into the options for legal recourse available to survivors of sexual abuse in daycares and preschools:
Daycares and preschools are necessities for many parents. We all trust the employees of these facilities to be trustworthy people who will supervise our kids and provide them with an enriching environment during the day. While this is usually the case, a small handful of these employers are sexual predators who commit heinous crimes against the children they’re supposed to be watching over.
In some cases of daycare sexual abuse, the daycare was negligent in a way that allowed the abuse to occur – such as failing to run a background check and hiring an employee with a history of sexual misconduct complaints or arrests. When negligence is involved, the victims and their families may have a strong case for a lawsuit, which can help demand accountability from these facilities and provide financial compensation for the damages suffered by the victims.
