Sharonville Pastor Cesar Guerrero Charged with Sexual Battery

A pastor at the Misión Cristiana El Calvario church in Sharonville has been charged with three counts of sexual battery for allegedly sexually abusing a teen girl who was a church member. 38-year-old Cesar Guerrero faces these charges in connection with an incident which allegedly happened on August 5.

Guerrero is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl who attended his church. Jail records also state that “multiple females” have accused him of sexual abuse.

According to the police and court documents, Guerrero exploited his position as a pastor to coerce the girl into believing that sexual activity with Guerrero would help treat her trauma from being sexually abused as a child.

Court documents allege that Gurrero met the girl alone in his office at the church and “used Bible scripture and prayers to cleanse her” while performing sex acts. He allegedly told the victim that “God was talking to him and it was necessary,” according to the court documents.

A second girl told authorities that Guerrero sexually abused her more than once, starting when she was 14 years old. He faces federal charges of coercing a minor in that case.

Police told Judge William Mallory that they believed Guerrero is a flight risk. He was ordered held on a $300,000 bond.

Legal Options For Clergy Sex Abuse Victims & Their Families

Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com is a former sex crimes prosecutor who represents victims of sexual abuse in civil lawsuits. Brian has offered to share a few thoughts on the legal rights of clergy sex abuse victims and their families:

Sexual predators often place themselves in positions of trust and authority, where they abuse their trusted positions to commit terrible crimes against vulnerable victims. Our attorneys regularly see this in cases involving pastors, priests, and other religious clergy members sexually abusing their followers.

The perpetrators of these heinous crimes must be held accountable for the trauma they’ve caused and their victims deserve answers, support, and justice.

The police and the criminal justice system handle the prosecution of sexual predators, but the options for justice don’t always end here. In many cases, survivors of clergy sex abuse may have grounds for a lawsuit against their abuser and possibly the church itself for failing to prevent the abuse due to negligence.

For example, a church might be considered negligent if the abuser had a history of sexual misconduct but was hired anyway.

If you or a loved one is a survivor of sexual abuse by a religious clergy member, you can learn more about your family’s legal options by discussing your case with an experienced sexual abuse survivors lawyer.
