Foss Home & Village

There have been 2 reports of residents being sexually assaulted at Foss Home & Village in the summer of 2019.

Elderly Patient, Disabled Patient Report Sexual Assaults by Employees at Foss Home & Village

Two residents of the Foss Home & Village assisted living facility in Seattle have reported being sexually assaulted by staff members.

In the first case, 29-year-old nursing assistant Nshimiyiana Hamzat was arrested after being caught on hidden camera sexually assaulting a 50-year-old disabled patient on multiple occasions. The woman’s family reportedly hid the camera in what appeared to be a phone charger in the woman’s room. Hazmat has been charged with second-degree rape.

Hamzat also owns another adult care home in Bothell called the Rose Garden Adult Family Home, where operations have been suspended since his arrest.

A second sexual assault at Foss Home & Village was reported about a week after Hamzat was charged, in the third week of July. In that case, a 93-year-old woman told her son that she had been sexually assaulted by a caretaker in April. The woman’s son reported that allegation to police.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is now investigating the Foss Home and Village in the wake of these two reported sexual assaults.

Justice For Nursing Home Abuse Victims & Their Families

Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com represents sex abuse victims and their families in civil lawsuits. Brian has offered to share some information regarding the legal rights of nursing home abuse victims and their families:

It’s never easy to send a loved one to a nursing home or assisted living facility, but for many families, this becomes a necessity for elderly or disabled loved ones. The residents of these facilities deserve to be treated with the best possible care and with respect. But tragically, there have been widespread reports of abuse and neglect in our nation’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

When a nursing home resident discloses abuse, it’s natural for the victim and their family to be curious about their legal rights. If your family is in this difficult situation, you’re likely in search of justice for the trauma your loved one has suffered.

There is no excuse for allowing a nursing home resident to suffer due to abuse or neglect. In many cases of nursing home abuse and neglect, the victims and their families may have grounds for a lawsuit against the facility due to negligence.

If you or a loved one has been sexually abused in a nursing home or assisted living facility, you can learn more about your family’s legal rights by speaking with an experienced sex abuse victims attorney.
