A 50-year-old pediatrician, Gabriel Perez, has been arrested on serious charges of aggravated sexual assault against a child, per a recent report by KSAT. The San Antonio Police Department reports that a boy, aged between 10 and 16, confided in his parents about the alleged assault during an exam. His office is located at 9793 Culebra Rd #105, San Antonio, TX 78251.
The troubling events reportedly unfolded during a routine annual checkup. Police say Perez asked the boy’s mother to leave the examination room, after which the assault allegedly occurred. The victim had been visiting Perez for medical care since he was around five or six years old.
Following a thorough investigation, detectives confirmed they had enough evidence for an arrest. Perez was taken into custody at his home without incident. Authorities have refrained from naming the practice where he worked.
Detectives have raised concerns that there may be additional victims. The San Antonio Police Department's Special Victims Unit is encouraging anyone with information or who believes they may have been a victim to reach out and report their experiences.
