A disturbing case has emerged in Hillsborough County as a campus safety monitor faces serious charges involving child pornography and bestiality, according to Patch.com. Tyree McKinley Fields, 25, was arrested Monday after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) discovered he had amassed hundreds of graphic images and videos. Fields worked at Spoto High School located at 8538 Eagle Palm Dr, Riverview, FL 33578.
Fields has been charged with an array of offenses, including 100 counts of possession of child pornography, 100 counts related to filming or possessing sexual activity with animals, and multiple counts of unlawful use of communication devices. The investigation began after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in August, which traced uploaded child sexual abuse videos back to an account linked to Fields.
Upon executing search warrants for Fields’ online accounts and residence, detectives uncovered a significant collection of disturbing materials involving the abuse of infants and young children, as well as videos depicting acts with animals. Fields was taken into custody at his home and is currently held at Falkenburg Road Jail.
“This individual’s actions are beyond comprehension,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. “The abuse of children and animals is pure evil. Thanks to the dedication of our detectives, this man is behind bars. We will never tolerate those who target the most vulnerable, and we will continue to pursue them relentlessly.” The investigation underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to protect children and hold offenders accountable.

In response to the recent arrest of Spoto High School safety monitor Tyree McKinley Fields on charges of child pornography, families may be left with many questions about their legal options. To clarify these complex issues, we spoke with Michael Haggard, an experienced Florida sexual abuse lawyer. He offers valuable guidance on how families can respond and what steps they can take to protect their rights and seek accountability.
Editor Darla Medina: With the recent arrest of Tyree McKinley Fields, what legal options do families have when a school employee faces child pornography charges?
Attorney Michael Haggard: Families can take several steps. First, they should report any concerns to law enforcement and the school district. This ensures that authorities are aware of any potential victims and can take appropriate action.
Medina: What about legal action? Can families file lawsuits?
Haggard: Yes, families may have grounds for a civil lawsuit against the individual and potentially the school district if negligence is involved. For example, if the school failed to take action despite previous complaints, that could be a factor.
Medina: What kind of damages can families seek in these cases?
Haggard: Families can seek compensation for emotional distress, counseling costs, and any other impacts on the victims’ lives. The process can be complex, so consulting with an attorney who specializes in these cases is advisable.
Medina: Are there time limits for filing these types of lawsuits?
Haggard: Yes, there are statutes of limitations that vary by case type. It’s important for families to act promptly to ensure they can file within the legal timeframe.
