Justice For Bar Shooting Victims and Their Families
Attorney contributor Brian Kent at CrimeVictim.Attorney represents crime victims and their families in civil lawsuits.
Mr. Kent says, “Restaurant and bar owners are responsible for keeping their properties secure as well as their patrons and employees safe from preventable dangers. The owner must provide adequate security in order to prevent any foreseeable violent crime.”
“If a bar owner fails to provide adequate security and something like a shooting occurs on their property due to their negligence, then the victims may have grounds for a lawsuit. However, in order for a bar owner to be considered liable, lawyers must also prove that the shooting was reasonably foreseeable. For example, if the bar or the area surrounding it had a history of violent crime, the shooting may be seen as reasonably foreseeable”, explained Mr. Kent.
