Legal Recourse for Restaurant Parking Lot Shooting Victims

Attorney Brian Kent at www.crimevictim.Attorney has experience representing parking lot shooting victims in civil lawsuits.

“Commercial property owners of places like parking lots, restaurants, and bars have a legal duty to protect their patrons and employees from any reasonably foreseeable violent crime. This includes providing adequate security in order to prevent crimes like shootings and stabbing from occurring on their property”, stated Mr. Kent.

“In general, if a reasonably foreseeable shooting occurs on a commercial property due to negligent security, the owner may be held liable for the crime. For example, if the property or its surrounding area has had a prior history of violent crime and no security improvements were enforced, then the owner may be considered partially responsible for the crime. Security improvements can include video surveillance, security guards, and well-lit parking lots”, explained Mr. Kent.
