KidsPeace Employee Charged with Sexually Assaulting a Minor
A former employee of KidsPeace in North Whitehall Township has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor at the mental health facility for children. 23-year-old Kharee Greene is charged with institutional sexual assault.
State police began investigating a claim of possible child abuse at the facility on July 11. KidsPeace provides mental and behavioral health services to children and their families. Greene was working for this facility at the time of the alleged assault but has since been fired.
A state trooper spoke with the 15-year-old alleged victim and a 17-year-old who claims to be a witness – who were both living at the facility at the time of the alleged assault. The trooper also watched surveillance video from June 26 – which is when the alleged assault occurred. Charges were filed based on this investigation.
Greene was arraigned on September 23 with bail set at 10 percent of $25,000. He was unable to post bail and was sent to the Lehigh County Jail.

Legal Options for Psychiatric Facility Sex Abuse Victims and Their Families
Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com is a former sex crimes prosecutor who now helps survivors of sexual abuse find justice in civil lawsuits. Brian has offered to add some legal commentary on the rights of psychiatric facility abuse victims and their families:
Psychiatric facilities must take the safety of their patients seriously. Sadly, these facilities are sometimes targeted by sexual predators who seek to abuse vulnerable patients. When an employee of a psychiatric facility is arrested for sexually abusing a patient, it’s important to determine if the facility failed to do everything they could to protect their patients.
Some cases of sexual abuse in psychiatric facilities only occur due to negligence – such as failing to respond to previous allegations of sexual misconduct against the perpetrator. In cases of negligence, the victims and their families may have grounds for a lawsuit against the facility.
