Surgeon Dr. Guiseppi Tripodi Charged with Sexual Assault
Middlebury surgeon Dr. Guiseppi Tripodi has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a former employee at his medical office, Middlebury Surgical. Guiseppi faces a charge of fourth-degree sexual assault, third-degree assault, and breach of peace.
The former employee worked as Tripodi’s assistant and told police of several incidents of alleged sexual assault at his office.
The woman has accused Tripodi of hugging her from behind and groping her breasts while making a sexual comment. In another incident, he allegedly groped her crotch and buttocks. She told police that he also pulled her hand towards his crotch in a third incident.
He is also accused of calling the woman stupid and grabbing her neck after she dropped a tool during surgery preparation. She told police that in another incident, he bit her neck and in another, he grinded his pelvis against her leg. He allegedly slapped her in the face when she pushed him away.
Another employee said that she witnessed Tripodi grab the alleged victim’s arm and shoved her down a hallway last year. The same witness told police that Tripodi regularly used sexual innuendos with her. Another witness told police that Tripodi behaved like a “chauvinist pig.”

Legal Options For Employees Sexually Assaulted by Doctors in the Office
Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com is a former sex crimes prosecutor who represents sexual assault victims in civil lawsuits. Brian has offered to share some of his thoughts on the legal rights of employees who have been sexually assaulted by doctors in medical facilities:
Doctors are highly trusted by the people in their communities, and most doctors are indeed trustworthy. However, there have also been widespread reports of doctors sexually assaulting patients and employees in medical facilities across the nation. When a doctor is charged with sexually assaulting one of their employees, that employee should be aware of their legal rights.
No one should ever be forced to endure unwanted sexual attention or sexual abuse in the workplace. Along with reporting sexual assault to the authorities for a criminal investigation, victims of workplace sexual assault also often have grounds for a lawsuit.
For example, a doctor’s assistant who has been sexually assaulted by her doctor employer may have grounds for a lawsuit against that doctor.
