According to the Las Vegas Metro Police, someone contacted them on Thursday, December 19 to report that Retana has sexually abused the victim over a period of several years.

Legal Recourse for Victims of Sexual Abuse by Pastors and Other Clergy Members

Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com is a former sex crimes prosecutor who now represents sex abuse victims in civil lawsuits. Brian has offered to share some of his thoughts on the legal rights of those who have been sexually abused by pastors and other religious clergy members:

Tragically, sexual predators are often some of the most trusted members of their communities. Our attorneys have seen far too many cases of pastors and other religious clergy members sexually abusing their parishioners. Religious organizations must do everything they can to make sure their members are safe from sexual predators.

Some cases of clergy sex abuse are preventable and only happen due to negligence by the religious organization, such as ignoring previous reports of sexual misconduct involving the accused pastor. In cases of negligence, victims of clergy sex abuse may have grounds for a lawsuit against the church.

If you or a loved one is a victim of clergy sex abuse, our dedicated sex abuse victims lawyers have the resources, experience, and dedication to help you fight for justice. You can learn more about your legal rights in a free consultation.
