Former Lansing School Cop Charged with Sexual Assault
An ex-cop assigned to Eastern High School in Lansing was arrested on Tuesday and charged with several counts of sexual assault and related charges. Matthew Priebe was the school resources officer there until May 2018, when several students came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct. He was placed on administrative leave on May 31.
On Tuesday, Priebe was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, attempted fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault and battery, and distributing obscene material to children.
Priebe had been a member of the Lansing Police Department for a decade before he resigned on June 22, prior to the completion of the Michigan State Police internal investigation.
Court records allege that Priebe tried to kiss and sexually abuse three girls in his school office and patrol vehicle. The alleged incidents happened over a three-year period. The youngest victim was 14 and the oldest was 17 at the time of their assaults.
He is also accused of sending sexual videos and photos to some of the victims.
Priebe has a court appearance for a probable cause conference scheduled for March 1. He has been released on a personal recognizance bond of $25,000.
