Dr. William Vollmar Charged with Indecent Assault of Patient During Massage
A doctor at Stephen G. Diamantoni & Associates in Quarryville has been charged with indecently assaulting a patient during a soft tissue massage at his office last month. 55-year-old William R. Vollmar allegedly inappropriately touched the male patient during an after-hours appointment for an ankle injury.
According to a criminal complaint filed by state police in Lancaster last week, the patient made a late appointment with Vollmar through text message on March 24. The two met for the appointment at approximately 7:30 p.m. at Vollmar’s office on 203 Commerce Drive.
Vollmar examined the man’s ankle at the Diamantoni & Associates sports clinic and then offered the patient chiropractic work and a soft tissue massage. This was not the first time he had offered such services and, according to the criminal complaint, these previous appointments had always been professional.
But on March 24, the complaint says, Vollmar asked the patient if he trusted him and when the man said “yes”, Vollmar touched him sexually. The victim told Vollmar to stop immediately. According to the police, Vollmar confessed to the inappropriate touching when they interviewed him last Tuesday.
Vollmar has been charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent assault without the consent of the other. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 15 before Magisterial District Judge Stuart J. Mylin.

Legal Recourse for Victims of Sexual Assault by Doctors
Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com helps survivors of sexual crimes find justice through civil lawsuits. Here is some insight from Brian regarding the legal options available to those who have been sexually assaulted by doctors and other medical professionals:
No one expects a doctor to violate their trust until the unthinkable happens. We all trust that our doctors will provide the best medical care possible and that they will treat us with respect. Most doctors earn this trust, but unfortunately, sexual assault by doctors is more common than many people believe, with thousands of documented cases stretching across all 50 states.
When a doctor sexually abuses a patient, it’s important to make sure the doctor is held accountable and that the patient gets the support they need. If the facility where the assault occurred was negligent, then that facility also deserves to be held accountable for failing to keep their patients safe. In many cases, victims of sexual assault by doctors may have grounds for a lawsuit, which can help provide financial support and demand accountability.
