Justice For High School Sex Abuse Victims

Attorney contributor Kristen Beightol has advocated for victims of high school sex abuse throughout the state of North Carolina. Her experience filing civil high school sex abuse lawsuits allow her to understand the many options available for victims and their families. Kristen fights to seek justice for vulnerable victims by holding those responsible accountable.

"High school sexual abuse is an unjust and heartbreaking reality for too many students. The physical and emotional trauma of being a victim of sexual abuse can have long-lasting and devastating effects. As a society, we should do everything we can to protect students from such abuse and provide justice for those affected."

"The first thing to understand is that victims of sexual abuse have a right to seek legal action against the perpetrator and the school or institution responsible for the student's safety. It is important to note that the legal process for seeking justice against a negligent school or institution can be a lengthy and complicated one."

"In addition to pursuing damages, victims of sexual abuse in high school can also seek to hold the school accountable for its failure to protect their safety and well-being. This can include filing a complaint with the school district or state education department or filing a federal lawsuit against the school or school district. A school has a legal duty to provide safety for the children in its care. This includes doing background checks on all staff members and volunteers. Additionally, security cameras and patrolling security are a few ways a school can minimize the chances of these dangers on campus."

"At the end of the day, it is important to remember that victims of high school sexual abuse have legal rights to seek justice against negligent schools and their perpetrators. By exploring these options and more with an experienced sex abuse lawyer, victims can get justice and help to ensure that no other student has to endure the same trauma."
